McCARTYS POTTERY
(American/Mississippi, Lee McCarty, 1923–2015; Pup Rone McCarty (1923–2009) 

In 1954, Lee and Pup McCarty started McCartys Pottery in Merigold, Mississippi when they were given a mule barn and created together a pottery design that would become nationally and internationally known.  Their work has been presented in exhibitions at the Mississippi Museum of Art; the Lauren Rogers Museum of Art; the Samuel P. Horn Museum at the University of Florida, Gainesville, FL and the University of Mississippi Museum, Oxford, MS.  In 1996, they received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Mississippi Institute of Arts and Letters.
